But as I come from a 3rd-world country (Brazil), my intention was to show their advantages from a 3rd-world perspective. By the way, since many ancient European cities have narrow streets, and it had some reflex in the colonies here in South America, the enhanced mobility of a tricycle in tight spaces is also very desirable.cRiPpLe_rOoStEr a.k.a. It might also be a reasonable alternative for Europe to cut its dependence on fossil fuels and the greenhouse gas emissions. When fitted with a motorcycle-like handlebar, the cost to register a tricycle there is still lower than for a traditional car, and the motorcycle rider license is also cheaper to get than a driver license, but there are also some tricycles fitted with a car-like cabin. Anyway, the stricter safety regulations, which sometimes actually become kinda exaggerated, are increasing the cost of entry-level cars so much that tricycles often become the only economically-viable option due to their exemption from many of those mandates because of their legal status as a motorcycle.cRiPpLe_rOoStEr a.k.a. I believe the reason is that cars and motorcycles are not a transport device: they are part of the self, kind of a prostheses of the ego. Who could buy a device that shouts that you are too poor to have four wheels? They should not feel that way? Well, consumers seem to disagree.
To make a trycicle/sidecar an attractive option it has to create a new marketing niche, the same way the phone from Apple was not another phone.
Clive Sinclair intended this with an electric trycicle in the ´90, but he did not succeed.
